Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week: A Showcase of Sophistication and Glamour

Paris is witnessing a series of haute couture fashion shows for the Fall/Winter 2023-2024 collections until next Thursday, despite the tense atmosphere in the French capital. This tension led Celine to cancel its scheduled show last Sunday. However, ongoing events did not prevent Schiaparelli from opening its exhibition of accessories inspired by surreal artworks. The Federation de la Couture, the governing body of high fashion, insisted on organizing Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week as scheduled to celebrate the most sophisticated industry in fashion. The event was attended by celebrities and models who personally attended the shows and sat in the front rows to witness this global event.

The first day began with the Schiaparelli show, followed by Dior, George Habib Iris Van Herpen, where prominent celebrities such as Cardi B and actress Gwendoline Christie attended the surreal Schiaparelli presentation. Noteworthy designs included body-hugging outfits adorned with oil paintings by artist Lucian Freud. The collection also featured a skirt and cardigan made from mirrored pieces inspired by renowned sculptor Jack Whitten, as well as pieces inspired by Salvador Dali, showcasing vibrant colors, including a painting of a sunrise. Despite facing criticism in January for the lion-headed dress worn by Kylie Jenner, Schiaparelli underwent transformations under the creative direction of Daniel Roseberry.

Dior's collection for Fall/Winter 2023-2024 was characterized by a bridal aesthetic, with models donning white and metallic silver dresses. The brand collaborated with artist Marta Roberti, who brought in the skilled embroidery craftsmanship of Maison Lesage to depict ancient birds and plants. The show was attended by prominent stars such as Alexandra Daddario and Natalie Portman.

Iris Van Herpen showcased a collection made from organic materials and recycled fabrics, inspired by geometric shapes and sculptural forms created using advanced discharge techniques.

Designer Georges Hobeika presented his sophisticated collection titled “Dream,” inspired by green meadows and vibrant nature. The collection employed a three-dimensional embroidery technique using stones of varying sizes to enrich the designs created by both father and son.

Designer Jad Hobeika introduced masculine outfits featuring wide-leg trousers with slim neckties, equipped with butterfly-shaped light fixtures. The collection also included sleeveless vests in pastel colors worn over sleeveless tops, paired with embellished minaudière bags.

On Wednesday, designer Stephane Rolland will present his sophisticated collection for Fall/Winter 2023-2024, inspired by the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, who performed at the Opera Garnier. Rolland created a promotional film for his collection, directed by French filmmaker Claude Lelouche. Rolland expressed the relationship between fashion and art as a collaboration that contributes to the elevation of the collection beyond the authority of money.
