Florence Pugh Reveals the Surprising Inspiration Behind Her Iconic Buzzcut

Florence Pugh is sharing the inspiration behind her buzzcut that took the internet by storm, and it's not what you might expect. When Pugh debuted her new hairdo at the Met Gala earlier this year, it sent shockwaves through the fashion world. In a recent interview, the actress delved deeper into the underlying meaning behind her bold hair choice.

“I intentionally chose to look like that. I wanted to remove vanity from the equation,” Pugh revealed to Radio Times, as reported by the Daily Mail. “Hollywood is known for its glamour, especially when it comes to women, and it can be challenging for audiences to see beyond that. Whenever I don't need to be glamorous or wear a full face of makeup, I strive to maintain that simplicity. It helps the audience.”

She emphasized, “Vanity is eliminated. The only thing people can focus on is your bare face.”

Pugh extended the same sentiment to her approach to makeup, which she prefers to keep minimal. “Even at the start of my career, I always fought to have control over my image,” she shared. “It benefits me when I wear less makeup because then I'm less of a shiny object on the screen. I feel more comfortable making ‘ugly' faces; it's more acceptable.”

While promoting her highly anticipated film, Oppenheimer, Pugh continued to flaunt her sophisticated pixie cut, experimenting with colors like pink and golden blonde. During a photocall, she paired a blue Moschino minidress with a rose-hued hair color. A few days later, she sported a caramel shade for the London premiere, perfectly complementing her plunging cut-out gown. In the Christopher Nolan-directed film, set to release this Friday, Pugh portrays Jean Tatlock, the romantic interest of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy).
